Auburn Area Recreation and Park District has something awesome to share - FREE dirt!
The Auburn Area Recreation and Park District was recently in need of several hundred yards of good fill dirt for Phase II of our Bike Park project. We found a few people that had dirt to donate, but all of it had to be trucked here, at considerable expense. In addition, most of this donated dirt was full of rocks.
Our lead Bike Park volunteer found out about a program through PG&E that provides dirt. In short the program:
- Provides free dirt screened down to 2”
- Tests the dirt for arsenic and other hazardous materials
- Delivers the dirt for FREE
With this program, we were able to get 680 yards of great dirt. Using the “free” dirt from other sources would have cost us over $20,000 in trucking fees. PG&E even provided flaggers for the temporary road closures when the dirt was delivered to the site.
