Highlights for this month include:
Parks & Recreation
- The California Department of Parks and Recreation has announced another round of funding for the Outdoor Recreation Legacy Partnership (ORLP) Program. Applications are due 1/31/2025. Funding can be used for the acquisition or development of new parks or substantial renovations to existing parks.
Sustainability and Climate Action
- The Sustainable Forestry Initiative has released applications for its Urban Forest Improvement Grant Program. Applications are ongoing until 5/30/2027 or until funds are exhausted. Funds can be used for benchmarks and assessments for urban or community forests in alignment with the organization's Sustainability Standards.
- The Hybrid and Zero-Emission Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Program is accepting application on an ongoing basis for a variety of vehicle types.
- CALSTART has released the Communities in Charge Incentives for EV Chargers Program Applications are due 1/31/2025. The Program is designed to incentivize and deploy Level 2 EV chargers and electric vehicle supply equipment.
- The California Energy Commission has announced its version of the Electric Vehicle Charger Reliability and Accessibility Accelerator (EVC RAA) Program. This program will fund projects that improve the reliability of existing non-operation publicly accessible electric vehicle charging infrastructure. Awards will be based on the charging station type and the port type. Applications are due 1/9/2025.
Emergency Response and Disaster Mitigation
- The U.S. Forest Service plans to announce funding through the Community Wildfire Defense Grant in November this year. This program provides funding to communities at risk from wildfires to develop or revise their community wildfire protection plans and carry out projects within those plans. Applications are due 2/28/2025.
Water Quality and Conservation
- Applications for the Proposition 13 - Water Recycling Planning Grant have been announced by the State Water Resources Control Board. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis until 6/30/2027. Projects can include recycled water treatment, recycled water storage, distribution, and pumping, and groundwater recharge.
