Call to Action: Press Conference & Rally for ACA 1 - TOMORROW, August 17th, 11am on West Steps!

ACA 1 (Aguiar-Curry) is a legislative initiative that would reduce the local vote threshold from a two-thirds supermajority to 55% to approve local general obligation (G.O.) bonds and special taxes for affordable housing and public infrastructure projects. 55% is the same vote threshold that currently applies to all local school construction bond measures.  ACA 1 will level the playing field by providing parity between school districts, cities, counties, and special districts so that all local governments have an equally viable financing tool to address their local priorities without having to rely on state and federal funding initiatives.

Assembly Speaker pro Tempore Cecilia Aguiar-Curry will be hosting a press conference and rally on ACA 1 tomorrow, Thursday, August 17th. There are over 40 co-authors in support, including the honorable Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas.

If available, CARPD Members are requested to attend the ACA 1 Rally at the Capitol tomorrow at 11:00am. We hope to see you there! If you plan on attending, please email CARPD Executive Director, Matthew Duarte, at mduarte@capri-jpa.org so we can plan a CARPD meet up.

If you are not able to make it to the Capitol tomorrow, you can still support ACA 1 by submitting a letter of support and by calling your Senate and Assembly legislative representatives to ask them to support ACA 1!
