The Funding Opportunities Report is provided as a resource for CARPD Members to keep you all apprised of the most current and comprehensive information on competitive funding programs.

Highlights for this month include:

Parks and Recreation

  • (NEW!) Parks California has released the Routes to Parks program. Funding is to be used to create transportation to and from parks. Applications are due 8/8/2025.
  • The Land and Water Conservation Fund is currently open for another round of funding. This program provides funding for the acquisition or development of land to create new outdoor recreation opportunities. Applications are due 8/5/2025.

Sustainability and Climate Action   

  • (UPDATED!) The Rural Electric Vehicle Charging 2.0 grant opportunity from the California Energy Commission has pushed back its deadline. Applications are now due 6/20/2025. The CEC will provide funds for projects that will install light-duty electric vehicle charging infrastructure in rural communities. 
  • The California Natural Resource Agency’s Environmental Enhancement Mitigation Program is now open. Applications are due 7/15/2025. This program seeks to mitigate environmental impacts caused by new or modified public transportation facilities.
  • CalRecycle has announced another round of funding for the Tire-Derived Aggregate (TDA) Program. Eligible projects include: Mechanically Stabilized TDA, Low Impact Development, Lightweight fill, Vibration mitigation, and Landfill application projects.  Applications are due 7/17/2025, 10/16/2025, and 1/13/2026.
  • The California Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Project (CALeVIP) has released the Fast Charge California Projects funding opportunity. This opportunity funds the installation and management of DC Fast Chargers for projects that are considered ready-to-build. Applications are due 9/30/2025.
  • The Ocean Protection Council has announced new deadline dates for the SB1 Sea Level Rise Adaptation Planning Grant program. Applications for Q2 will be due 7/18/2025 and for Q3 on 9/26/2025. Planning grants have a range of funding from $200,000 to $1,500,000. Implementation grants, which will start to roll out their first funding cycle later this year, have a range of funding from $1,500,000 to $10,000,000.
  • The Hybrid and Zero-Emission Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Program is accepting applications on an ongoing for a variety of vehicle types.

Water Quality and Conservation

  • The State Water Resources Control Board accepts applications for the Clean Water State Revolving Fund and Drinking Water State Revolving Fund on a rolling basis. The annual Intended Use Plan drafts are published in November/December of each year.
  • Applications for the Proposition 13 – Water Recycling Planning Grant have been announced by the State Water Resources Control Board. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis until 6/30/2027. Projects can include recycled water treatment, recycled water storage, distribution, and pumping, and groundwater recharge.
  • Funding opportunities through the federal Bureau of Reclamation are “currently paused and are under review until further notice.”
